West Frankfort Welcomes Illinois Army National Guard C Company 2-123rd Field Artillery

The Illinois Army National Guard C Company 2-123rd Field Artillery recently returned home from a tour of duty overseas. The company arrived at the Mt. Vernon Gymnasium around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 27. The soliders were greeted by family and friends and were honored in a short but long awaited welcome home ceremony.
A band of bagpipes and bass drums lead a single file line of hometown heroes into the gym and as each solider passed he received a rose and took his respective position in a formation.
The men were thanked for their service and then released to their familes.
